Growing up a few hours drive from the Arbor Day Farm my favorite tree is the Bur Oak. These trees are quite impressive when they reach a few hundred years old. I like them so much that my daughter and I planted one in our yard last year on Mother’s Day. I’ve had many people say that the nuts that drop off will be a nuisance but the tree is in the back of the house and therefore will not be a nuisance. Our little tree has grown almost a foot this year and is performing quite well; but then again it does get babied.
We haven’t made the trek out to California to see the Giant Sequoia and Redwoods so my favorite tree may change once we embark on that journey.
I love sycamores. They grow so large and have interesting bark.
